The Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce executes a broad, comprehensive communications strategy that highlights the vital importance of the employer community to the general public. This strategy includes extensive outreach to our current and prospective member businesses, government officials, the civic community, and the media, in an effort to articulate and grow support for the Chamber’s mission, public policy initiatives, and programs & events. These efforts are designed to achieve the following objectives:

  • Promote dialogue about issues that are critical to the competitiveness of the Greater Boston business community;
  • Build momentum for and advance the completion of important projects that impact the quality of life in the region; and
  • Engage a multitude of constituencies in the Chamber’s mission to drive economic growth, create new opportunities for businesses, and build a more inclusive community.


The Chamber takes a dynamic and multidisciplinary approach to its communications efforts, utilizing a broad spectrum of print, television, radio, and online platforms.

Print:

  • Press Coverage. Through select outreach, press releases, and media statements, the Chamber’s communications team works to ensure that the Chamber’s programs and public policy initiatives are regularly covered by local and national print, broadcast, and online media.
  • Op-Ed Pieces. The Chamber president and CEO is the author of several editorial pieces that highlight priority issues for the business community, and are published in newspapers of record.
  • Metro Boston. The Chamber partners with Metro Boston, the region’s leading free daily newspaper, to present the key thoughts of high-level Chamber speakers from recent events.

Television: 

  • This Week in Business. Chamber president & CEO Paul Guzzi is the co-host of This Week in Business, a weekly half-hour television program on NECN that airs every Sunday at 12:30 p.m. This Week in Business offers a timely analysis of major business stories and features high profile guests from business and government. 
  • “On the Record.” Every week, Chamber president & CEO Paul Guzzi is interviewed about the biggest business stories of the week in a news segment called “On the Record,” airing every Thursday on New England Business Day on NECN at 6:40 p.m. 
  • Chamber Programs on NECN.com. Beginning in the fall of 2008, select Chamber programs will be recorded and rebroadcast on NECN.com. This exciting new partnership will allow audiences from around the world to view the Chamber’s high-level speaker programs.
  • CEO Summit. Held annually in the fall, this roundtable discussion is co-hosted by Chamber president & CEO Paul Guzzi, and features a rotating panel of some of the region’s leading CEO’s.

Radio:

  • WBZ Interview. Each Thursday, Chamber president & CEO Paul Guzzi is interviewed by a WBZ-AM reporter on the most significant business issues of the week, and their impact on the regional economy. Segments of the interview air throughout the day on WBZ-AM 1030.
  • WBUR Broadcast. The Chamber has partnered with 90.9 WBUR-FM to broadcast “Chamber Forums Presented by the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce.” These Forums air once per month at 8 p.m. on Sunday, and are a complete broadcast of specific Chamber programs within the Government Affairs, Leading Industries, Life Sciences, Successful Business Management, and Women’s Network series.

Online:

  • bostonchamber.com. The new and improved Chamber website is Greater Boston’s best resource for information on leading speaker programs, employer policy initiatives, and visitor information.
  • Chamber Blog. The Chamber blog is a one-stop shop for information on employer issues, policy positions, the new Massachusetts Jobs Update, opinion pieces, press releases, Chamber event photography, and “On the Record” & This Week in Business Video clips. The blog also serves as a convenient source for the media and a reference point for leaders on Beacon Hill.
  • Twitter. The Chamber now has a Twitter page! Sign up to follow the Chamber, and get access to all of the latest updates from the Chamber, including policy initiatives, upcoming programs, and media coverage. Click here to follow the Chamber.
     

In addition to our numerous external communications, the Chamber sends out regular electronic correspondence to keep its members and government leaders informed about a series of issues of importance to the business community.

  • President’s Update. On a regular basis, Chamber members receive direct mail and electronic communication from the president’s office about the latest news in policy and programs at the Chamber.
  • Policy Update. On a monthly basis, Chamber member receive electronic updates on the Chamber’s advocacy work, policy issues, independent research reports, public policy committee meetings, and government affairs events.
  • Massachusetts Jobs Update. This update is meant to serve as a resource for elected and appointed officials across the state, and will also feature jobs trends for a specific leading industry that is helping to drive our state’s economic engine.
