2009 Small Business of the Year: Infoscitex

For 25 years, the Greater Boston Chamber has had the privilege of honoring some of our region's most esteemed members of the small business community at the Small Business of the Year Awards.

In 2009, the Chamber is pleased to honor Infoscitex Corporation as the "Small Business of the Year" at the Small Business of the Year Awards

Infoscitex Corporation (IST) is an engineering services firm that provides innovative solutions in the defense, aerospace, life sciences, energy, and environmental markets.

Founded in 2000, IST has established itself as a highly successful organization with a reputation for developing solutions that meet the unique requirements of its varied customers, including Reuters, Johnson & Johnson, the U.S. military, NASA, and the National Institutes of Health.

IST’s first spinoff, IST Energy Corporation, recently launched its flagship product, the Green Energy Machine (GEM), which turns waste into energy.

In 2006, the United States produced an estimated 251 million tons of waste - that’s about 4.6 pounds per person per day. Currently, over 50% of the United States' waste is disposed of in landfills every year. At this rate, 3,500 acres (equivalent to four NYC Central Parks) are lost annually to landfills, and this number will continue to rise to keep pace with our ever-increasing production of trash.

The GEM is a waste-to-energy conversion system that enables organizations to generate energy from non-recyclable waste onsite in a dumpster-size system.  It converts trash in the form of paper, wood, plastic, agricultural waste, and food into electricity and heat – providing a highly-efficient and environmentally-friendly source of energy and reducing the need for landfills.

The Chamber will honor Infoscitex for their development of GEM, their business success, and the contributions of their employees at the Small Business of the Year Awards on October 15.

We hope you will be able to join the Greater Boston small business community for this exciting program, which will also feature a keynote address from Randy Papadellis, CEO of Ocean Spray Cranberries, Inc. Click here to register for the luncheon.
