Presented annually since 1985, The Small Business of the Year Awards honor the achievements of small business and the spirit of entrepreneurship. This awards luncheon typically attracts more than 300 attendees from a wide array of industries in the region.
The 2009 Small Business of the Year Awards were hosted on October 15 honoring the achievements and significance of small businesses. This year's event was emceed by WBZ’s Anthony Silva, and Randy Papadellis, CEO of Ocean Spray Cranberries Inc., was the keynote speaker. Papadellis spoke to the importance of maintaining small business roots no matter how large your company becomes.
This year’s honorees included Diane Hessan, CEO of Communispace Corporation, who was named Entrepreneur of the Year for her creativity, ingenuity, and teamwork – traits that have fueled the company’s continued growth and made it one of the region’s best places to work. RDK
Engineers took home the Award for Business Excellence for their focus on employees, workforce development, and outstanding results. Infoscitex was named Small Business of the Year for their innovative solutions in the defense, aerospace, life sciences, energy, and environmental markets.
