About the Chair.

Robert Gallery serves as the Bank of America Massachusetts President and the chair of the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce. A unanimous choice of the Chamber’s Executive and Nominating Committees, his two-year term began on May 4, 2010 when he was inaugurated at the Chamber’s 101st Annual Meeting & Dinner. 

 

In accepting his new responsibilities, Gallery stated: "The Chamber’s mission to build a strong, growing economy is more important now than ever before.  I look forward to serving as chair of the Chamber and helping to advance its work in leadership development, economic growth, and job creation.”

 

As the Bank of America Massachusetts President, Gallery is responsible for the company’s community efforts and investments in the Commonwealth. In addition, he is responsible for coordinating efforts to integrate Bank of America’s Corporate Social Responsibility strategy and initiatives across the legacy Merrill Lynch organization.

 

Gallery joined Bank Boston in 1991 and has held a number of positions including Managing Director of US Trust/Private Wealth Management in Greater Boston, various leadership roles in the Corporate-Investment Bank for Fleet-Boston, and head of Bank Boston’s European business based in London.

 

Earlier, Gallery held a number of positions at First Chicago in corporate banking and strategic planning from 1975 to 1991. He joined the organization’s Boston office in 1981 and served as Regional Manager from 1986 to 1989.

 

Gallery serves on several nonprofit boards, including the United Way of Massachusetts Bay, Horizons for Homeless Children, Cradles to Crayons, the boards of Overseers of WGBH and The Boston Symphony Orchestra, and is a trustee of the Boston Plan for Excellence. He is a graduate of Loyola University Chicago, B.A., and Northwestern University, M.B.A. Gallery and his wife, Jill, live in Boston, Massachusetts and have two daughters, Meghan and Erin.
