The Greater Boston region has long been known for its intellectual capital and innovative drive. Talent is our natural resource. Yet strong leadership is vital to drive economic growth, build a more inclusive community, and ultimately make Greater Boston a better place to live and work. The Chamber has embraced the mission of developing leadership in the Greater Boston region, launching the Chamber Leadership Initiative.
The 2011 Chamber Leadership Initiative is currently underway, and we are gearing up for 2012! We currently have the largest class in the history of the program, with more than 200 participants. Chamber member companies are embracing the mission of building business through leadership development.
The Chamber Leadership Initiative consists of four core programs designed to provide participants with the skills they need to be effective leaders in the 21st century.
Executive Leadership Institute
In collaboration with MIT and the Harvard University John F. Kennedy School of Government, the Executive Leadership Institute convenes a stellar group of senior executive business leaders for high-level discourse, learning, and engagement. Participants have the opportunity to interact with C-level peers in business and government, learn from world-class professors at MIT’s Sloan School of Management and the Mossavar-Rahmani Center for Business & Government, and deepen their knowledge of the economic and civic issues we face as a region. The program accepts up to 30 senior executives each year who hold high-level management responsibilities in a Chamber member company. Click here for more information on the 2011 program.
Boston’s Future Leaders
In partnership with Harvard Business School and Suffolk University’s Sawyer Business School, the Boston’s Future Leaders program identifies and engages high-potential individuals in the business and civic life of our community. The program provides a platform for young leaders’ professional development and enriches their professional experience as they advance to executive positions. Each year, up to 60 individuals who hold a mid-level management position at a Chamber member company - and have been identified as having high-potential for an executive-level position - are accepted to the Boston's Future Leaders program. Women's Leadership Program
The Women’s Leadership Program will be delivered in collaboration with the Simmons School of Management, a leading provider of management education for women. This year-long program will include a one day seminar at the Simmons School of Management that will include lectures, case studies, and extensive discussion facilitated by top faculty. In addition, participants will take part in a series of workshops, roundtables, and events throughout the year focused on networking, skill building, negotiation, and personal leadership development. The program annually accepts 40 female professionals with 3-8 year of professional experience. Click here for more information.
Chamber Intern Connect
Chamber Intern Connect is the newest program in the Chamber Leadership Initiative that aims to increase talent retention in the region. In partnership with Experience.com, a leader in online recruitment, the Chamber's internship website -- intern.bostonchamber.com -- is an online portal that provides a direct link between employers and students seeking internships. These high-value, work-based internships can provide students with work experience and help local employers attract and retain more highly skilled workers. All Chamber members can apply for an account and post internship opportunities to the site for free. Students can access the internship listings by logging into the site, which is being shared with local colleges and universities, and is connected to a statewide internship website sponsored by the Commonwealth.
